Membership with the Northern Horse & Mule Harness Association (NHMHA) has many valuable benefits and merits. While you do not need to be a member of the NHMHA in order to take part in our events, purchasing an NHMHA Membership galvanizes our club for the purpose of promoting the sport of driving:
- We enjoy driving our horses, mules and donkeys in parades, at fairs, special events (weddings, parties) and rodeos. We drive in all seasons!
- We support driving competitions and classes in horse shows and country fairs.
- Our club participates in providing drives for functions which sometimes raise funds through donations.
- Our funds allow us to support institutions and clubs such as Ride for the Disabled and 4H chapters.
- Our funds allow us to hold frequent events like training clinics, a winter cutter rally, Sleigh Days, our annual Wagon Trek (May long weekend), driving Fun Days, Appreciation Day Drive-and-BBQ, a Harvest Drive, and our annual Christmas Party. Members are often free of charge for events.
Monthly meetings provide socialization with common interests, slide shows, and presentations for topics of interest. An annual equine calendar is provided to all members featuring our members' teams, sleighs and wagons. Attending our monthly meetings is a good opportunity to network in a sport which is growing faster than any other equine activity in North America. Join us! Come out and learn how to drive.
To become a member of the NHMHA, please complete Steps One and Two below:
Step One:
For insurance purposes, all members of the Northern Horse & Mule Harness Association who drive or ride must be current members of Horse Council BC (HCBC). If you are not yet a member of HCBC, please visit www.HCBC.ca. Among the many benefits included in a HCBC membership is $5 million liability insurance coverage and $30,000 accidental death and dismemberment insurance coverage. If you agree this is a valuable asset, you may purchase a membership online at the HCBC website on the Individual and Family Membership page. Once you have your HCBC Membership Number, please return to this page to acquire your NHMHA membership.
Step Two:
To become a member of the Northern Horse & Mule Harness Assocation, please save our Membership Form to your desktop. From there you can complete and save your filled-out form, and attach it to an email to nhmha.harnessclub@gmail.com.
Annual memberships are $10 for a single membership and $25 for a family membership. EFTs (eTransfers) can be made to nhmha.harnessclub@gmail.com. If you are paying by cheque, please attach your cheque made out to NHMHA with a printed copy of your completed NHMHA Membership Form and mail to:
